I have not received regular mail in the last year plus. Over the year they will skip a day here a day there and now it has been 3 days since I have received mail.
USPS accepts multiple forms of payment. Greeting cards and gift cards available for sale in addition to stamps and mailing supplies. Wheelchair accessible parking and entrance available. Curbside drop-off available on Citrus Blvd. P.O. Boxes at this location have a New Orleans city and zip code.
I have complained through the USPS website and spoken via telephone with the New Orleans Postmaster, who tells me that he's aware of the issues and frankly admits that he has "staffing problems." He said it would get better, he was sending "better people" here, but I've seen no changes, and that conversation was three months ago.
I have now complained to the Postal Regulatory Commission and the USPS Office of the Consumer Advocate. The former thanked me for my letter, added it to the file, and referred me to the latter. I am still pending a reply from the Consumer Advocate.
In my entire adult life I have never had problems with USPS until I had the misfortune of moving to the New Orleans area. It seems that they can't keep good people here and the few good ones transfer out as soon as they have enough seniority to bid for out-of-area jobs. This particular post office seems to be the worst of the worst. Half of my neighbors have given up on local delivery and choose to maintain Post Office Boxes.
I have held a business P.O. Box at this location for about a year, and so far no complaints. Love convenient 24/7 self-service hours, helpful staff, and proximity to some of my other errands (e.g. shopping, gym, etc). Also close to some of my favorite places for casual business meetings (e.g. City Greens, Reginelli's). Staff have pleasant and helpful anytime I needed help during business hours.
Deserving of zero stars. My First Class Delivery (routed through this location) is consistently bad, with missed deliveries at least twice a week (literally every single time it rains we're skipped for delivery; so much for "Neither rain, nor sleet....."), letters placed in my neighbor's box, their letters placed in mine, etc. I have complained to staff at the Elmwood Location and been told there are "no problems."
If 0 stars was an option they'd get it. DON'T GO TO THIS BRANCH!!! They steal packages! It will say delivered and not be there. Then they'll say that it must have been put in the wrong box. I've talked to my neighbors, and they all have missing packages as well...
The person who delivers my mail deserves to be fired. He will jam stuff that's too big into the box often damaging my items or forcing me have to fight to pull the items out. When items are too big for him to jam them in my box he just won't even bother walking up the steps to deliver them until I guess enough people in the building have ordered packages. There's no reason in the world to even try to get rush shipping because it's of no purpose once it gets to the post office. I've complained multiple times to no avail. It's annoying and I wish I had another option to get my mail delivered.
This Post Office needs a Manager or Managers that care about their job so the can instill work ethic to the employees. There is no excuse for the poor service at this location.
